January 1, 2013 "Hangover Ride - Harley Of Naples"

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here we are heading into a New Year and I think it is gonna be a great one! I hope for each and every one of you the best for 2013! Keep on smiling and spitting on all the bad times out there and just look for friends and family to get us through!

We had a great start to the new year with a nice ride sponsored by Harley Davidson of Naples which included employees and friends. We met at Harley and got a little late start missing our 10:00am departure time by a few minutes due to some technical difficulties, however, we made it out and our ride was flawless. We rode about 100 miles to Clewiston's Rowland Martin's Tiki Hut! What a great time we had. The weather was perfect, the sky's clear, it was not too cool, or too hot. There were about 13 bikes to start with, led by Alan. Later in the ride we met up with more riders who could not make the KSU at Harley. By the time we got to the Handy Mart in LaBelle I think I counted 17 bikes.

When we arrived at the Tiki we found a couple hundred bikers already there and the parking lot was full! Inside we found more Naples Harley employees as well as Ft. Myers Harley employees. The seating was not much better than the parking lot so we began our partaking of refreshments at the bar and made our way to seats as they came available.

Sonja and I split fried catfish and fried shrimp and it was good. The atmosphere was perfect for a bunch of riders and although the food was not 5 star it passed as good traveling fare and I would certainly take that 100 mile ride again. This place is right on Lake Okeechobee so we saw lots of birds and fishermen around the area.

It was a great time had by all but most importantly for me I got to spend time with my wife, friends and Harley Family. The more I get to know these folks, the more I know I am fortunate to live the life I do. It's not about the bike, although when you ride a Harley it's special. It's about the people, from all walks of life, indulging in life the way not many people know.

Thanks to Harley Davidson of Naples for inviting me along and thanks to Alan for orchestrating this event!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
