I always love coming to the Everglades, especially with friends. Today, I had the privilege of spending the day with Jamie and Jon, good friends from Michigan. We were on a Kayak journey just yesterday and today we explored the Everglades together.
What a great day. The weather was near perfect. We saw tons of gators, bald eagles, osprey, egrets, herons, cormorants, anhinga's, ibis, wood storks, turtles, and handled snakes, alligators, birds and scorpions!
The day started with a quick overview of the local "Ft. Myers Beach" area and progressed into a full blown educational experience about the geology, plants, animals and peoples of South Florida as it relates to the Everglades.
I had a great time with these young people and hate to see them go back to the north.
